BEDFORD, Nov. 6, Progress Software Corporation (Nasdaq:PRGS) announced the acquisition of substantially all of the assets of PeerDirect Inc., developers of a distinctive heterogeneous database replication system for high-speed and reliable distribution of business information. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Progress Software is a supplier of application development, deployment and management technology, network management solutions and support services to business, industry and government worldwide.

WAYLAND, Nov. 9, National Dentex Corporation (Nasdaq: NADX) announced the acquisition of Crown Dental Studio, Inc. of Shreveport, Louisiana effective November 1, 2001. Crown had sales in excess of $5,000,000 in its fiscal year ended December 31, 2000. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. National Dentex owns and operates 31 full-service dental laboratories and five branch laboratories in 24 states. National Dentex designs and fabricates custom dental prosthetic appliances such as dentures, crowns, and bridges.

NATICK, Nov. 9, Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE: BSX) announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire RadioTherapeutics Corporation (RTC), a privately held company based in Sunnyvale, CA. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in early December. Upon closing, RTC will become a part of Boston Scientific's Medi-tech division. RTC develops and manufactures proprietary radiofrequency-based therapeutic devices in the field of interventional oncology for the ablation (destruction) of various forms of soft tissue lesions (tumors).

WALTHAM, Nov. 12, Thermo Fibergen Inc. (ASE: TFG) announced that its parent company, Kadant Inc. (ASE: KAI), will acquire the minority interest in Thermo Fibergen for $12.75 per share in cash. Thermo Fibergen Inc. operates primarily in two business segments: Fiber-recovery and Water-clarification Services and Cellulose-based products. Kadant Inc. designs and manufactures processing machinery, accessories and water-management systems for the paper and paper recycling industries.

CAMBRIDGE, Nov 13, Tofias PC announced that it has merged with Petitti, Eisenberg & Gamache, a Southeastern MA-based accounting and consulting firm. Petitti, Eisenberg & Gamache, based in New Bedford, will take the Tofias name but will maintain its current location and staff. With more than 180 full-time personnel, Tofias is the largest regional certified public accounting and consulting firm in Southern New England.

BOSTON, Nov. 16, GenuOne announced its acquisition of Certus International. Certus International is a developer of patent-pending online authentication products, with operations in Princeton, NJ. Founded in 1998 in Boston, MA, GenuOne is a provider of comprehensive brand security systems. GenuOne develops customized, proactive solutions to eliminate counterfeiting, product diversion, licensing fraud and intellectual property theft in the physical world and on the Internet.
